If your Apple Watch no longer works properly, it may help to reset it to factory settings. In order to subsequently restore the data on your Apple Watch after performing the reset, you will need a backup. Manual backup creation is usually not necessary in this case, as all Apple Watch data is automatically backed up to the connected iPhone.

Use this procedure to reset the Apple Watch to factory settings

To reset your Apple Watch to factory settings and delete all data, please first navigate to the device's settings.
  1. In the settings, then search for the "General" entry and tap it.
  2. Select the option "Reset" at the very bottom there and tap on "Erase all data and settings".
  3. Now confirm the execution of the reset once again by tapping on "Continue".
  4. Please note that it may take a few minutes until the process is completed and that you may not use the clock during this time.
