Connecting a Sky hard drive to your PC - is that possible?

With a suitable Sky hard drive, you can record your favorite shows and watch them again and again. Whether you can also connect the hard drive to the PC and what other options there are to use the Sky program on the PC, you will learn in this article.

All information about the possibility of connecting a Sky hard drive to the PC

Sky offers you the option of connecting an external hard drive to your receiver for recording series and movies. However, this only works if you use a suitable hard drive from Sky. These are available with 320 GB or 2 TB storage capacity and cost between 49 and 99 euros. If you want to transfer your recordings that are on the external hard drive to your PC and back them up there, this is not possible. This is because Sky hard drives cannot be connected to a PC, but can only be used with the respective Sky receiver.

Connecting a hard drive: How to use Sky on the PC

Even if it is not possible to connect a Sky hard drive to the PC, you can receive the Sky program not only via your receiver, but also on the PC. For this you need Sky GO, the use of which is already included if you have a Sky subscription.
  1. To use Sky on the PC, please first call up the Sky GO website in the browser on your PC.
  2. On this then click on the top right on the "person icon" and log in with your customer number or email address and your PIN code.
  3. Alternatively, you can also use Sky GO via the desktop app, which is available free of charge for Windows and Mac.
