Sharing your WLAN password - this is how it works on iOS 11

If you want to give friends or relatives access to your WLAN network, you usually have to enter the WLAN password. On an iPhone or iPad with iOS 11, however, you can now share your WLAN password more quickly.

Sharing WLAN password: These are the conditions

If you own an iPhone with iOS 11 as the operating system, you now have the option to share the password of your WLAN network with other people more quickly. However, for this to work, some conditions must be met. For example, password sharing is only possible with other Apple devices that use at least iOS 11 or macOS High Sierra. Also, both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi must be enabled on both devices, and it is required that you have the other person's contact information stored in your address book.

How to share your Wi-Fi password with another Apple device

Once the conditions for sharing your Wi-Fi password are met, you can share it with other users or one of your other devices in just a few steps. First, make sure your device is connected to the Wi-Fi network and unlock it.
  1. On the second device, open the Settings app and navigate to "Wi-Fi".
  2. Tap on the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to, select "Share password" and confirm with "Done".
  3. Alternatively, you can also hold your iPad or iPhone next to the iOS 11 device that is already connected to the Wi-Fi network. A new window will then appear on it, through which you can confirm the sharing of the password.
