Paying or receiving money anonymously with PayPal - is that possible?

PayPal is also used by millions of customers in Germany for daily payment transactions. In this context, the question is repeatedly asked whether anonymous money transfers are also possible with PayPal.

Clear rules: Complete anonymity is not possible with PayPal for legal reasons.

With PayPal, your payment information is always protected. Your name, on the other hand, may not remain completely in the background.

PayPal: Anonymous money transactions are not possible

The answer is pretty clear:

• PayPal legally falls within the definition of a bank.
• Consequently, the payment service provider must adhere to the strict regulations.
• For security reasons, this also includes that anonymous monetary transactions are not possible electronically.
• The specification of false personal data in a PayPal profile is therefore not permissible.

For anonymous electronic monetary transactions are therefore necessary alternatives; in principle, this is possible, for example, with cryptocurrencies, even if this in turn means for completely new requirements.
