WQHD or 4K? These are the differences

WQHD, also called QuadHD, is four times the resolution of HD. 4K, on the other hand, is four times the resolution of Full HD (Ultra HD). QuadHD is used on popular smartphones, screens, and tablets, while Ultra HD is more commonly used on monitors. Mostly, the 'W' is omitted in WQHD. Thus, WQHD and QHD stand for the same resolution.

What is the difference between WQHD and 4K?

WQHD and 4K have some differences:
  1. WQHD stands for "Wide Quad High Definition". This resolution is very common and is installed in many devices.
  2. It is equivalent to four times the HD resolution, hence the name Quad HD.
  3. The resolution is 2,560 x 1,440 and defines a 16:9 format.
  4. 4K screens are much higher resolution than QHD screens. They correspond to four times the resolution of Full HD, i.e. 3,840 x 2,160 pixels.
  5. Even for image editing and gaming, you should rather go for a 4K monitor than a QHD monitor, since they have a higher resolution.
  6. Naturally, the price also plays a supporting role here. So QHD monitors are of course a lot cheaper than 4K monitors.
Generally, however, good QHD monitors are not much inferior to 4K monitors in. In terms of price, QHD monitors are slightly below 4K monitors. If you want to decide on a device, this test report from ComputerBild will help you.
