Setting up the Raspberry Pi - what you need to know about it
If you want to put the Raspberry Pi into operation, it is important to set it up first. Here, not only the software is essential, but also the hardware used. In addition to the appropriate power supply, power cable or SD card, you also need an operating system.
How to set up the Raspberry Pi
In order to use the Raspberry Pi, you need several components. In addition to the operating system to be installed, the appropriate hardware is also important for operation.- A Raspberry Pi 3 requires a 5-volt power supply with at least 2 amps. However, if you want to connect any other devices to the Pi, you will also need to factor this in when choosing a power supply. Note that you will also need a suitable USB cable to connect the hardware together.
- An additional requirement is an SD card and either a DVI or HDMI cable.
- Finally, you will need to install an operating system and boot from your SD card.
- To do this, download the OS and connect the Pi to your computer.
- Open a terminal and change to the directory of the download with "cd".
- Unzip the file with the command "unzip DATEINAME.zip".
- You can find out the name of the device file via "sudo dmesg".
- Now you can write the image of the operating system to the SD card. To do this, enter the command "sudo dd if=FILE.img of=/dev/NAMEofDeviceFILE" in the terminal. Remember to include the appropriate file name and device file name. If there is an error with the latter, you may overwrite another disk, which may cause problems with your system.
