Android Q is so far only available for selected smartphones, such as the Google Pixel models, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro or the Sony Xperia XZ3, as a beta version. If you use one of these devices and already want to test Android Q, you can participate in the beta program and download the beta version to your smartphone. To do so, visit the website "android.com/beta", search for your smartphone and click on "Get the Beta" to get the appropriate test version of Android Q.

Android Q: How to update your smartphone or tablet to the latest version

The final version of Android Q is expected to be available from fall 2019 and can then be installed on all compatible smartphones and tablets. Whether an update to Android Q or another Android version is available for your device, you can first check this via the settings.
  1. To do this, please tap on the "gear icon" to open the Settings app and select "System".
  2. Navigate in the system settings then to "Advanced" > "System updates" respectively to "About the phone".
  3. If an update for the Android operating system is available, it will be displayed here and you can download and install it by tapping on the notification.
