Tinder symbols - all info at a glance

Navigation in the popular dating app Tinder works via various symbols. But what does the blue star, the red cross or the purple lightning bolt mean? Get an overview of the different symbols and find out what functions are hidden behind them.

Tinder symbols: What the signs mean

Open the Tinder app, you can access all the basic features via the navigation at the top of the screen.
  • Profile: Tap the icon on the far left of the navigation to access your profile. There you will find options to customize settings, profile information, and other things in the app.
  • Fire icon: The fire icon will take you to the match feature.
  • Talk bubble: You can find your messages and matches via the talk bubble.
In addition to the navigation at the top of the screen, you have another one at the bottom.
  • Yellow arrow: As a Tinder Plus member, you can use the yellow arrow to undo your last swipe gesture.
  • Red cross: Via the red cross, you can assign a Dislike to profiles that you do not like.
  • Blue star: If you like someone particularly well, assign a Super Like via the blue star.
  • Green heart: If you like a profile, give away a Like about the green heart.
  • Purple lightning: About the purple lightning you activate the Tinder Boost function, which gives you more matches in the next 30 minutes.

This is what the red dot and blue star

A red dot next to a match or the message icon signals that you either have a new match or an unread message. If you see a blue star on another Tinder user's profile, you have received a Super Like from that user.
