Nowadays thousands of GIFs are sent via various social media platforms or instant messengers every day. A GIF consists of various individual images and can therefore also be created from a video clip. If you would like to create your own animated GIF, there are various tools available.

How to create an animated GIF

A GIF is usually a silent animation that you can share across different platforms. Instant messengers already offer you numerous pre-saved GIFs that you can send. However, if you want to create your own animated GIF, then there are various tools available.

1. If you want to create a GIF, you first need a set of images with which to create the animation. Optionally, you can also use a clip from a video.
2. If it is a video clip, then you can already make your GIF using a tool on a website like gif-erstellen. Most online tools allow you to drag the video excerpt directly into the designated area. Once you press "Create GIF from video", the GIF is created and you can download it.
3. Alternatively, photo editing programs such as Photoshop also offer suitable functions. For this, the use of the timeline offers, insert the images and let them display one after the other. Then select "File" > "Save for Web".
