Who is Anonymous? What's behind the mask

Anonymous is a well-known group of activists that not infrequently draws attention to itself through articles and press reports. Disguised by the mask of Guy Fawkes, followers act with good intentions and expose crimes and grievances. Among other things, the group is known as hackers with special skills.

Who is Anonymous? Who belongs to the group?

Anonymous must be considered a collective. There is no membership list, nor does the grouping function like an actual organization.

1. Anonymous is, in practice, a federation of hackers and activists. Even among themselves, the least know who is actually hiding behind the mask.
2. The grouping has been responsible for exposing various illegal activities in the past and thus exposed a number of pedophile rings and also acted against members of the Ku Klux Klan.
3. In 2015, the federation officially declared digital war against the Islamic State and launched a series of hacking attacks that removed various accounts from the network through which Islamist activities were propagated.
