Block anonymous calls - How to avoid nuisance calls

Whatever smartphone you own: Anonymous calls can become annoying and they can quickly become unsolicited advertising calls. However, you have the option to block these anonymous calls.

How to block anonymous calls on your Android device

The procedure differs between Android and iOS devices, however. If you use an Android smartphone, block anonymous calls this way:

1. Go to "Contacts" on your smartphone.
2. In the upper right corner, you will see an icon with three vertical dots. Click on it.
3. Now in the drop-down menu, select the "Settings" option.
4. Under the "Call settings" menu item, there is a "Block numbers" button that you need to select.
5. Now you can enable "Block anonymous calls".
6. Here you also have the option to block known numbers.
7. If you want to undo the settings, you can also deactivate the button again.

How to block anonymous calls on your iPhone

The iPhone also offers a way to block anonymous callers. However, you need iOS 13 or more recent for the function.

1. Open the settings on your iPhone.
2. Now select the "Phone" menu.
3. Here you will find "Mute unknown callers". Tap on the slider to activate the function.

If you use an older Android version, there is a small tick. Arrange all your contacts into groups. Then specify that calls should always be muted, except from the group or groups where your saved contacts are.
