How to connect repeater with router?

If you want to strengthen the WLAN of your router, it helps to connect it with a repeater. In doing so, the repeater receives the router's WLAN signal and forwards it to more distant areas of your home. How to establish the connection between the devices, we explain here.

Connecting a repeater to the router via WPS

A repeater is needed when a router's WLAN signal is not strong enough to reach all areas of an apartment or house. In order for the repeater to receive and forward the WLAN signal, you must first connect it to the router. This can be done either by cable or wirelessly. To connect the repeater wirelessly to the router, it is best to use the WPS method. To do this, first press the WPS button on both the repeater and the router for a few seconds and wait while the devices establish a connection.

How to connect repeater and router manually

If your router does not have a WPS button, you usually only have the option of connecting it to a WLAN repeater using a cable. The situation is different if you have a Fritz WLAN repeater, as you can also connect it wirelessly to the router via the user interface.
  1. To use this method, please first connect the repeater to a power outlet near the repeater.
