Excel: SVERWEIS or #NV - what you need to know

A SVERWEIS function is used to tell you within your spreadsheet when a cell or a formula cannot find a certain reference. Typically, such an error occurs when the cell used in the formula contains an incorrect format or is empty. Even a non-existent cell can provoke the error.

Excel: How to fix the SVERWEIS

Generally, a SVERWEIS is nothing bad. The table just tells you that something is wrong with the current references. To resolve such a reference, you are left with three options.

1. You can ensure that the specified reference is resolved by inserting the required data in the correct place.
2. In addition, you can extend your formula by using a =WENN function. This should logically reflect that if the formula indicates an error, return 0.
3. Also, you can use the function to return an error message or even leave the content completely blank.

Ein SVERWEIS kann in unterschiedlichen Fehlermeldungen ausgedrückt werden.

1. Durch #NV kann beispielsweise ein Suchbegriff nicht gefunden werden oder eine Zahl wird nicht als solche interpretiert.
2. Bei #WERT ist im Spaltenindex eine 0 oder eine negative Zahl eingetragen.
3. #NAME weist Sie darauf hin, dass Sie eine Funktion falsch geschrieben haben.
