Install Ecosia: How to make it work with Chrome and Firefox

How to install Ecosia in your browser

The Ecosia search engine works the same way as other search engines: you enter a search term and Ecosia finds websites relevant to you. However, before that, you need to install the tool. You install it as a plugin in your browser.Ecosia is available for both Firefox and Chrome. Basically, the installation works the same for both browsers:
  1. You can find the respective download for Ecosia for Chrome and Ecosia for Firefox here.
  2. Click the "Download" button and then click "Download" again.
  3. Now you are directly on the installation page for Ecosia for Chrome and Firefox respectively.
  4. Click "Add" to download and install Ecosia. You will find the plugin in your browser afterwards. To make everything work, close your browser once and open it again.

Use Ecosia as a search engine

Now that Ecosia is installed as a search engine, you can use it via the button at the top in Chrome and Firefox, respectively. Moreover, you can also set Ecosia as your default search engine. This way, you don't always have to remember to enter search terms there to search the Internet in an environmentally friendly way.
