In most cases, only the cable's sheathing is broken or brittle. This does not directly limit the functionality of the cable, but an exposed cable is dangerous.

1. To repair a broken sheath, you need a little shrink tubing and a ballpoint pen spring.
2. First, cut a small piece of the hose and put it over the place where the cable can be seen.
3. Heat the hose slowly and evenly, so that it hugs the cable.
4. Now take the spring to hand and pull this also over the broken area.
5. Then follows a new layer of heat shrink tubing, which you put over the spring and then heat again.
