Thanks to the ZDF-Mediathek you can watch missed series and movies even later. This works both online and offline. To watch shows from the Mediathek without an Internet connection, simply download them. We show you here how the download works.

How to download shows from ZDF-Mediathek

In ZDF-Mediathek you have access to various series, movies and documentaries that ran on ZDF. If you have missed a program, you can usually find it in the ZDF-Mediathek and watch it for three months after it was broadcast. All you need is the free ZDF Mediathek app and an Internet connection. To watch programs from the Mediathek on the go without the Internet, the ZDF Mediathek also offers you the option of downloading them.

1. To download content from the Mediathek and watch it offline, you need the ZDF app, which can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or App Store.
2. Then open the ZDF app and search for the program you want to download.
3. Tap there now still on the button "Watch offline" and wait until the download is complete.

Alternatively to the download within the app, you can download movies from the ZDF-Mediathek also via the browser on your computer. However, for this you need the free tool MediathekViewWeb. To use this, please call up the page "mediathekviewweb.de" and search for the desired ZDF program. Once you have found it, first click on the "video icon" and then on the "disk icon". To start the download, please make a right click and select "Save as".
