Turn off Bitdefender - how it works
If you have Bitdefender installed on your PC, it protects your computer from viruses and malware. However, if Bitdefender causes problems when installing or opening other programs and files, it can be turned off or completely uninstalled in just a few steps.
How to temporarily turn off Bitdefender
If problems occur when installing other programs, this may be caused by antivirus software. If you use the Bitdefender program on your PC or laptop, the problem can be fixed by temporarily disabling Defender.- To do this, first start Bitdefender and navigate to the "Settings" in the program.
- Select the category "Antivirus" in the settings, switch to the tab "Protection" and disable there the access scan that is performed when installing new programs.
Instead of turning off: How to uninstall Bitdefender
If you want to completely uninstall Bitdefender from your PC instead of just temporarily turning it off, you can do so from your computer's Control Panel. If you are using a Windows PC, click the Windows icon to open the Start menu and click "Control Panel" there. If you use a newer PC with Windows 8 or Windows 10, press the Windows key on your keyboard and search for the term "Control Panel" to find and open it.- In the Control Panel, please then navigate to "Uninstall Programs" and look for the entry "Bitdefender" in the list that appears.
- Select the Bitdefender with the mouse button and click the "Uninstall" button.
- The uninstallation will then start and all associated directories, files and registry entries will be removed from the PC.
