Atlas: Crossplay feature now active - all info

At the end of 2018 Atlas was released via Early Access and triggered a short-lived hype in the survival MMO genre. Since then, the game has been steadily improving, and that included the implementation of crossplay.

In the oceans of Atlas, Xbox players can meet PC survivalists.

Crossplay means that multiplayer sessions are possible across platforms. In most games, this is not possible; however, Atlas makes an exception.

Atlas: Crossplay possible - but not for all platforms

The crossplay activation for Atlas was finally implemented in October 2019:
  • Since 8. October Xbox and PC players (Steam) are allowed to set sail together.
  • PS4 owners remain outside.
  • Players may - if desired - also run their own, unofficial servers on which crossplay is possible. The feature is thus not only reserved for the official servers.
  • As a result, all future Atlas updates will be released simultaneously for Xbox One and the PC version. The same applies to new game content.
Since Atlas is still in Early Access, the game is by no means free of bugs. This caused a lot of criticism at launch; against this backdrop, the crossplay implementation is a good way to appease tempers a bit.
