Photos are the most important reason for many users to use iCloud. The photostream comes in handy. The photostream works quite simply:
  • All photos you take with your iPhone or iPad are automatically uploaded to "My Photostream". Live photos are excluded.
  • The requirement is that you use the same Apple ID on the devices.
  • After that, you can view your photos from different devices in one central place. This also applies to devices without a camera, such as iMac or Apple TV. Windows access is also possible.
  • However, the photos are only ever stored there for 30 days. After that, you will only find them in your device storage or in a cloud storage, if you have uploaded the photos there.
  • For permanent automatic cloud storage, use iCloud Photos.
