organize iPhone contacts into groups: How to do it

If your contact list on the iPhone is so long that the overview suffers, you can easily organize your contacts into groups. The easiest way to do this is via the iCloud rather than directly on your iPhone.

In the iCloud, you can divide your contacts into groups.

The bad news first: There is no built-in function yet to divide contacts into different groups on the iPhone. You either need an additional app, for example Address Book Plus, or you use the iCloud.

Alternative: Divide contacts into groups via the iCloud

In Apple's online storage iCloud, the group function is fortunately available to you. You use it as follows:
  1. Log in to icloud.com in the browser with your Apple ID.
  2. Click on "Contacts".
  3. Click on "Add" in the sidebar (recognizable by the plus symbol) and then select "New Group".
  4. Enter a name for the group and confirm the name with "Enter".
The group is created and you can add contacts:
  1. Open "All Contacts".
  2. Just drag the contacts you want to add to the new group there.
Now enter the name of the group, for example, if you want to write an SMS on the iPhone, all group members are automatically added as recipients. In this way, you can organize as many contacts in groups. Whether it's work colleagues, family, friends or sports team, this allows you to keep a full overview at all times. And: You can also add each contact to more than one group.
