Is FIFA 21 playable on Steam? We explain the situation

Shortly after the release, it was clear that FIFA 21 is the expected bestseller. The compatibility with Steam is certainly not a disadvantage.

FIFA 21 on Steam: What to consider

FIFA is developed and published by EA Sports. The Canadian gaming giant even owns its own PC platform, Origin.

• That's where the PC versions of FIFA are traditionally based - it's no different with FIFA 21.
• But because of Steam's huge popularity, FIFA 21 is also available there.
• There is an important note in the fine print, however: To play FIFA 21 on Steam, the Origin client must still be installed and actively running.
• Furthermore, you must link your EA and Steam accounts.

Without the in-house service, EA thus does not release the game on foreign platforms. Loyal Steam fans are nevertheless happy about this option, if only for the reason to have access to all contacts in FIFA 21.
