By personalizing Alexa, you can adapt the device to your personal preferences. There are many ways to personalize, ranging from enabling additional features to customizing Alexa settings in the app.

How to personalize Alexa by enabling skills

If you have an Alexa device, such as the Amazon Echo or Echo Dot, it has various functions that you can control by voice input. In order to adapt the use of Alexa to your personal needs, more and more manufacturers offer their own Skills for Alexa, by activating which you can use Alexa to control, for example, your TV, your lamps or the heating. To find and activate an Alexa skill, go to the "Skills" section in the Alexa app menu, select a skill, and activate it by clicking the "Activate" button.

Additional ways to personalize Alexa

In addition to activating additional skills for use with Alexa, you have other options to personalize your Alexa device.

1. By default, you activate Alexa by saying "Alexa". To use a different activation word instead, open the menu in the Alexa app and select a different name in the "Settings" > "Activation word" section.
2. In addition, Alexa is able to recognize different voices. If several people in your household use the Alexa device, it makes sense to create a separate voice profile for each user. To do this, use the command "Alexa, learn my voice".
3. It is also possible to set up personal routines with Alexa. To do this, specify in the app under "Settings" > "Routines", which action Alexa should perform at a certain time.
