Regex: Find - how to search for Characters

Regex are regular expressions that appear in various fields. Especially in theoretical computer science, it is the description of a set of strings using syntactic rules.

This is what the Find method helps you with when using regex

Regular expressions can be used in various programming languages. They allow you to describe a set of strings using syntactic rules. To simplify the work with regex, various methods are available. These include, for example, the method "find ()".
  • When using the Java programming language, the Matcher class is available. This allows you to determine whether a substring in the string matches the described pattern.
  • The "find ()" method therefore outputs "true" if a substring matches your regular expression. If no substring is found that matches the pattern, on the other hand, "false" is output.
  • In contrast, the "match ()" method compares the complete string. Therefore, the method returns "true" only if the complete string matches the regular expression.
  • Another task of the "find ()" method is to update the state with the matcher object locations. So können Sie über die „group ()“-Methode den Substring ausgeben und mithilfe von „start ()“ und „end ()“ auch die genaue Position des Substrings.
