One of Tommy Shelby's rivals will officially return in the sixth season of the TV series. Here's all who he is and what his role in the plot will be
The sixth and final season of Peaky Blinders is coming to Netflix. The costume crime series is coming to an end after many iconic moments, nuanced characters, influential women and determined men, but also conflicts and many questions left unanswered in the final episodes.
The production of the last season stalled several times due to the pandemic and the death of one of the cast members, Helen McCrory. The fifth season was released more than two years ago now. The Shelby family will once again star in the series set in 1920s Birmingham. Unfortunately, the official date regarding the release of the sixth season is not yet known, but we are talking about the first months of 2022. In the last few hours, a news has animated the audience: in the sixth season there will be the return of a beloved character, one of the main rivals of the protagonist Thomas Shelby.
Peaky Blinders 6: the return of Tom Hardy
Finally it's official: Alfie Solomons, played by British actor Tom Hardy will return in the final chapter of the TV series.
Tom Hardy is one of the most important actors in the world, he achieved success with his appearance in the film Inception by Christopher Nolan, but his filmography is very long. He also left his mark in Peaky Blinders, where he plays Alfie Solomons, the antagonist of Tommy Shelby, played by Cillian Murphy.
Solomons was one of the main characters, he involved the audience from the second to the fourth season, when after betraying Tommy and his family for the umpteenth time, he is killed. Or so it seemed, although many fans from the beginning did not believe in his death.
At the end of the fifth season it was revealed that Solomons was alive, despite having his face disfigured, and was hiding in Margate. But it was unclear if he should actually return and take an active part in the plot. The arcane has now been revealed: Tom Hardy, as Solomons, will return for all intents and purposes and influence the story of Peaky Blinders.
Peaky Blinders 6: what will happen
Anthony Byrne, director of Peaky Blinders, announced that the series will pick up from the moment Tommy Shelby is putting a gun to his head, in a moment of total despair after the death of his wife.
The final chapter will be set in the 1930s, during the rise of Nazism and fascism. Tommy will find himself in front of numerous crossroads, but being the concluding season, the audience will be able to have a lot of answers.
In fact, the sixth season will not correspond to the actual conclusion of the story: the creator Steven Knight had announced that a movie will come, whose work will begin in 2023 and will put the word "end" to the whole saga.
In the meantime, the public speculates about the release date of the TV series: initially it should be released in England and later in all countries where Netflix is active. There is talk of early 2022.
