Apple will use special lenses for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro. They will allow you to take great quality images
In a market like that of top of the range smartphones, where it is now practically a must to take for granted that the device has a very powerful SoC, lots of RAM and a great screen, one of the points where it is still possible to stand out is the photo department. Apple knows this and, historically, its iPhones have always had very good cameras.
But the competition is increasingly fierce, Google has now shown that the camera hardware is only one of the ingredients of the recipe to take great photos (the other ingredient is artificial intelligence) and on the market now you can see flagship smartphones with complete photo departments (and very complex). Here, then, comes the prediction of the well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo: the Apple iPhone 12 will have lenses "high-end" that will allow you to take pictures of the highest quality. The bad news, however, is that even because of these lenses perhaps the iPhone 12 will arrive later than the now classic date by September. Will that be the case? We can't know, but Kuo usually gets it right.
New iPhone 12 photo lenses: what they will look like
The photo department of the new iPhone 12, at least the top-of-the-line ones, according to Kuo will be provided by Largan Precision. In a previous report, Kuo had said that the photo sensor of the upcoming iPhones will be bigger, to capture more light and take better photos especially in the evening and at night. Largan Precision, a Taiwan-based manufacturer, will start delivering components to Apple in the middle of the month.
Apple usually starts receiving components to be integrated into next-generation iPhones a bit before mid-July, so there is a small delay according to Ming-Chi Kuo. As a result, again according to Kuo, the mass production of the iPhone 12 will slip by 4-6 weeks and the peak of the deliveries of lenses for the cameras of its smartphones Apple will receive between September and November and not, as in the past, between August and October.
When the iPhone 12 comes out
Also in light of this information, Kuo can only give as likely a small delay for the arrival on the market, in large volumes, of the iPhone 12. There's no official reason for the delay, but it's clear that it's due to the forced shutdown of many factories in the Far East due to the Covid-19 emergency.
Apple is expected to launch two high-end 6.7- and 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pros with triple-lens cameras and two low-end 5.4- and 6.1-inch iPhone 12s with dual-lens cameras. Previously, Kuo said he expects the 6.1- and 5.4-inch iPhones to go into mass production in September, while mass production on the larger 6.7-inch iPhone will be delayed until October due to its more complicated design.
