Everybody in life has had an epiphany: a brilliant project that came to mind a bit by chance. But then the biggest problem is to find the money to realize it. One of the best ways to make our ideas come true is the crowdfunding site Kickstarter. The web can finance our projects.
What is Kickstarter? The site was launched in April 2009 with the mission of making projects by artists, writers, filmmakers, designers, musicians and creative people a reality. Since its opening, it is estimated that more than 10 million people have funded a project created on Kickstarter. To enter our idea on the crowdfunding site we must first register. Then select the category to which our project belongs. This is no small thing since some sectors are more likely to get funding. There are many categories from journalism to art to dance, but also directing and photography.
How to create a project on Kickstarter
Once we have chosen the category, we will enter the details of our project. At this point comes the fundamental part to get the most likely funding. First decide the goal you want to achieve, that is, the amount of money you estimate you will need to make our initiative real. And then in how long to reach the goal. A project with a deadline of one month, according to calculations, has more opportunities than those of two months. The critical threshold based on the data offered by Kickstarter is 20%. A project that doesn't reach this milestone after a few weeks of launch is almost always doomed to fail. Al contrario più dell’80% dei progetti che hanno superato in breve tempo quella soglia sono poi diventati realtà. Se alla scadenza della data da noi scelta l’obiettivo non sarà raggiunto i soldi torneranno agli investitori.

Diventare noi degli investitori
Se però siamo un po’ a corto di idee su Kickstarter possiamo benissimo fare la parte degli investitori. E non si tratta di pura filantropia, perché investire in un progetto spesso dà i suoi frutti. Chiunque si iscrive può diventare un sostenitore di un’idea altrui. La somma minima da versare è di un dollaro. In caso di successo i creatori del progetto prevedono dei doni particolari per i loro investitori. Ogni cifra versata ha delle ricompense correlate. Per esempio se abbiamo donato meno di 10 dollari a un fotografo potremmo ricevere un ringraziamento con una foto del progetto. Se avessimo donato di più un quadro e così via. Questo dipende dal creatore dell’idea che stabilirà dei pacchetti d’offerta. Chi fa fumetti spesso mette a disposizione dei suoi migliori investitori copie personalizzate, statuine dei personaggi e gadget vari. Ma esistono gruppi di innovatori che hanno anche portato fuori a cena i loro finanziatori.
Progetti vincenti
Può anche succedere che un progetto raccolga molti più fondi del suo obiettivo iniziale. In questo caso i creatori, ma non esiste un obbligo specifico di Kickstarter, possono condividere il successo con i propri finanziatori. Come? Aggiungendo dei premi speciali. Spesso i progetti interni alla categoria giochi, specie quelli da tavolo, rilasciano un aggiornamento o delle parti extra solo per i loro sostenitori.

Se state pensando di diventare dei sostenitori per avere in anteprima il progetto di una startup tecnologica o un fumetto dalla trama avvincente dovete sapere qualche info in più su Kickstarter.
