Forming a disk with macOS is not that difficult. You just need to have some patience and perform some quick steps. Here's how to do it
Just like on Windows, you can format your hard drive on macOS as well. A choice that becomes unavoidable when the hard disk no longer works as before. This is really a very simple procedure to put into practice and doesn't require much in terms of time.
It's good to make a small consideration, before starting to illustrate the steps to format a disk using a computer manufactured by Apple. Since the process will irreversibly erase the data contained in the storage unit, it is very important, of course, before deleting all the files, to make a backup, that is, to save everything on another device (a USB key, an external disk or another Mac hard drive). Formatting, in fact, cleaning up the hard disk, is as if it brought the device back to factory conditions. Having said that, let's describe what you need to do to format your Mac.
Format hard-disk with macOS
As mentioned earlier, formatting a disk with macOS is not that difficult. You just need to have some patience and perform some quick steps. If the procedure has to be done on an external drive, make sure it is well connected to the computer. At this point we can proceed.
First you'll have to open the "Utility" program. You can do this in different ways: from Launchpad or from "Spotlight" by typing the name of the tool directly into the program. As you surely noticed, a new window will pop up. Here you'll have to search and select the disk you want to format. Be careful not to mistake the hard disk.
Then, from the vertical bar at the top, click on "Initialize". Just like formatting in Windows, in macOS you'll have to choose the file system: you'll find the different formatting options under "Format". Now all you have to do is finally click on Initialize.
Clicking on "Security options" you can choose whether to perform a fast formatting or a slower but much more secure one, which makes recovering deleted files very difficult.
