From July 18 to 21 the 2019 British Open, the last golf Major of the year, takes place. Here's how to follow it in streaming and on TV on Sky
It's time for the Open Championship: from July 18 to 21 at Royal Portrush Golf Club all the greatest golfers in the World will compete in the last Major of the year. For the second time Northern Ireland hosts the British Open, one of the most awaited golf tournaments by fans. The course chosen for the 2019 edition is quite complicated, with holes where making a mistake is quite easy.
At the 2019 Open Championship there will also be our Francesco Molinari, winner of the tournament last year. In the last 12 months the Italian golfer has made the decisive leap in quality: he is now one of the strongest in the world and can play with anyone. The goal is to repeat last year's exploit, but he will have to deal with Rory McIlroy, the idol of the house and appeared in great shape, and Tiger Woods, back in great form in 2019. The 2019 British Open Championship in golf will be broadcast live by Sky on the SkySport Golf channel, but not only that. Fans will also be able to watch the Major live streaming on SkyGo.
British Open 2019: schedules
It starts on Thursday, July 18 at 7:30 am with the first round. Same time for the second round on Friday, July 19. For the third and fourth rounds, the start is scheduled for 9:00 a.m.
The 2019 Open Championship course
The Royal Portrush Golf Club has been chosen for the 2019 British Open. This is the second time the Northern Irish course has hosted the Open Championship: in 1951 it was Max Faulkner who won. To host the Major, Royal Portrush Golf Club has had a makeover, with some holes revised and others completely new.
This is a very selective course, with difficulty on each of the 18 holes. It starts with a par 4 and already at the second hole there is the possibility of making a birdie or an eagle if you can get to the green in two shots. At the 3rd hole, however, there is the risk of losing the shot just gained: a par 3 with many bunkers. From hole 4 onwards, players will also have to defend themselves from the wind and water: the course overlooks the sea and an error of just a few centimeters is enough to lose many shots.
Favorites of the 2019 Open Championship
All the greatest golfers in the world will be in Northern Ireland to challenge each other on the course of the Royal Portrush Golf Club. The list of favorites is very long and also includes our Francesco Molinari, last year's winner of the Open Championship, the first Italian to win a Major. Molinari, however, will have to deal with Rory McIlroy, the host and willing to return to win a Major. Watch out also for Tiger Woods, who in this 2019 seems to be back to the phenomenon of a few years ago.
In total the Italians in the competition will be three. In addition to Francesco Molinari, there will be Andrea Pavan and Nino Bertasio, who, thanks to his third place in the Scottish Open, won the chance to participate in the Open Championship 2019.
