If you want to publish a video or an excerpt from the video, then it may be necessary to pixelate parts of it. This may be necessary especially if there are people in it who do not want to be shown. To pixelate certain areas, you usually need a specific application.

How to pixelate areas in videos

When publishing a video, you may need to make areas unrecognizable by pixelating them, for example. You can do this with the help of various video editing programs. Upload the video directly to YouTube, however, then you can edit this there via YouTube Studio afterwards.

1. Go to the YouTube page and log in with your login details.
2. Upload the video as usual and do not make this public yet.
3. Now go to YouTube Studio and click on "Videos" on the left side.
4. Then pick out the video you want to edit and select it.
5. In the menu on the left side, now click on "Editor".
6. Here you will see the option "Make unrecognizable". Klicken Sie auf darauf.
7. Klicken Sie neben dem Eintrag „Bereich unkenntlich machen – benutzerdefiniert“ auf die Schaltfläche „Bearbeiten“.
8. Sie können jetzt alle Bereiche unkenntlich machen. Haben Sie alle Änderungen vorgenommen, klicken Sie auf „Fertig“ und danach auf „Speichern“.
