Rust: Quench your thirst and more - how to get water

In Rust, you need to regularly supply your character with water and food. Our guide explains how to get clean drinking water and what other uses you can put it to.

You don't have to go thirsty: You can make clean water yourself in Rust.

If you're lucky, you'll find water bottles while looting. However, this cannot be planned exactly; therefore, it is better to be able to provide drinkable water yourself.

Rust: How to get clean water

If you are near a water source, but the water there is salty, you cannot drink it. With a water purifier, the transformation succeeds. For this you need:

• 1x Empty propane tank
• 15x metal fragments
• 10x cloth

Also build a campfire and place it on the ground.

1. Place the water purifier directly over it.
2. Fill the purifier with water.
3. Activate the campfire.
4. Shortly thereafter, you can skim the purified water, for example, with an empty plastic bottle or a water bottle.

Beware that the process always loses water - from 500 ml of salt water you get far less than 500 ml of clean water. However, since the process costs nothing but wood, this is not too bad.You can use the water not only to quench your thirst, but also for other purposes, for example, your plantings. If you water them, you will get a higher yield when you harvest.
