Simulating circuits - with these tools it works

If you want to create electronic circuit diagrams or simulate circuits, you can do this comfortably on the computer thanks to various tools. This is especially handy when planning circuits and saves work afterwards, as you can find and correct errors in advance.

With these tools you can simulate circuits

To simulate an electronic circuit you need special software. There are some free tools that can help you put your circuits through their paces.
  • LTSpice: The free circuit simulation tool from semiconductor manufacturer Linear Technologies gives you a comprehensive tool to work with. With LTSpice, you create your own circuit diagrams. You can also run various simulations such as operating point, noise, Monte Carlo and parametric simulations. You can then analyze the results in a graphical environment. LTSpice is available for Mac and the PC.
  • QUCS: In the open-source freeware "Quite Universal Circuit Simulator" you have the option to enter and simulate your own circuit diagrams. As in LTSpice, you have various simulation options available and can have the results displayed graphically for better analysis.

Circuit simulation in the browser

The circuit simulation "Fritzing" is particularly practical. The completely free tool can be called namely quite conveniently via the browser. Fritzing wants to make electronics particularly easily accessible to everyone. In the environment, you can plan your own projects and easily exchange ideas with other users. As a special service, Fritzing offers circuit boards with which you can then realize your project created online.
