If you want to insert a URL as a link in a document or send multiple URLs as part of an email, this can take up a lot of space and affect the readability of the text. To save space and better integrate links into your documents, it is therefore useful to shorten URLs to just a few characters using so-called shorteners. This is also useful if you plan to send the URL as a message in a messenger service or if you want to save mobile data.

With these tools it is possible to shorten a URL

If you want to shorten a URL, you can find a number of URL shorteners on the Internet for this purpose. These are mostly free to use and do not require registration.

1. Very popular for shortening emails is the free URL shortener Bit.ly. To use this, simply enter the URL to be shortened in the corresponding field and click on the "Shorten" button.
2. In addition to shortening the URL, the provider TinyURL also gives you the option of assigning a personalized link extension. Add the URL for this in the field under "Enter a long URL to make tiny" before you click on "Make TinyURL!"
3. If you prefer to use a URL shortener from Germany, "t1p" is suitable. To use this shortener, please enter the URL in the field "Your link" and confirm with "Shorten link".
