Steam: Share game via URL or social media - here's how it works

If you discover an interesting game in the Steam client and want to tell your friends about it, you can do so via URL as well as by linking to social networks.

On Steam, you can share games in a variety of ways.

The selection on Steam keeps growing, making special finds all the more important. In the client, you have several ways to share them.

How to share Steam games on social networks and via URL

For sharing on social media, follow these steps:

1. Look for the right info bar in the game's detail view and scroll all the way down.
2. There you will find the "Share" option.
3. A window will open with icons of various social media platforms. Select the desired network.
4. In your browser then opens the selected page and you can still edit the post before you publish it.

If you want to share the game by simply sending the URL to the store address, this is also (mostly) possible with the client. At the top of the Steam menu, the store URL of the called game is displayed namely - but this function must be enabled. Open "View", then "Settings" and then "Interface". Check whether the checkmark on the right of "Show Steam URL address bar when available" is set and activate the option if necessary. You can then also share a Steam game with friends directly from the client via copy-paste link.
