In the Windows command line, you can enter commands to control the operating system or retrieve information. A basic command line command is "ipconfig". This can be used to display the addresses of all devices that are registered on your local network. You can also access your DNS cache and make various other settings. The same command can also be used on Unix systems, i.e. Linux and OS X, and displays similar information here. This is what you can get with ipconfig
- The IPv6 and IPv4 address
- Setting options of your network interfaces
- Subnet mask
- IP address of the default gateway
- DNS-Server
- Hostnamen
- NetBIOS-Knotentyp
- NetBIOS-Bereichs-ID
- IP-Routing
- WINS-Proxy
