Apple Music: Set up family subscription - here's how

With the family subscription, Apple allows you to use Apple Music with up to six people. To use the subscription, you'll need to sign up for Apple Music Family and set up family sharing on either iOS or Mac systems. Before you do that, however, you'll need to sign in with your Apple ID.

Thanks to Apple Music Family, the whole family can listen to music in parallel.

How to set up family sharing in Apple Music Family

You can set up family sharing on iPhone, iPad or iPod touch as well as on Mac. On iOS devices, follow these steps:
  1. Open the "Settings" and then tap your name at the top.
  2. There, tap the "Family Sharing" option and confirm with "Set up your family". Under "Family Sharing", you will also find the option "Add Member".
  3. Follow the further instructions to successfully complete the family sharing.
On Mac, the setup goes as follows:
  1. Call up the "Apple" menu and go to the "System Preferences".
  2. There, select "Family Sharing". Here you can also invite people to your share via "Add family member" after activation.
  3. Now enter your Apple ID and check whether "Share my purchases" is activated.
  4. Now follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
Finally, you still need to sign in to Amazon Music. To do this, open Apple Music or iTunes. Then click on "Listen now" and then on "For you". Click on the trial subscription offered and select "Family" > "Start trial subscription". Follow the instructions and confirm by clicking Subscribe.
