WhatsApp: Mark messages as unread

WhatsApp is one of the largest messaging services currently on the market. When you receive a message from someone on WhatsApp, the sender is usually notified that you have read the message. However, you can also mark a message as unread again.

How to mark messages as unread in WhatsApp

If you want to mark a message as unread in WhatsApp, it depends on which operating system your smartphone uses.

1. On Android, first open the chat in which you want to mark a message as unread.
2. Now press your finger on the corresponding message and wait until a menu opens. Select here the option "Mark as unread". The chat now gets a green dot again to remind you that you still have to respond here.
3. On iOS, after you have opened the chat, you can simply swipe the corresponding message to the left. This will mark it as unread and the chat is considered unanswered.
4. Note that the sender will still receive a blue check mark indicating to him that the message has been read by you.
