Star in WhatsApp - this feature has the mark

If you use WhatsApp on a smartphone with Android or iOS, an additional feature has been available for some time. This allows you to mark messages with a star. How this works exactly and what the star means, we explain here.

Procedure to mark messages in WhatsApp with a star

The star is used in WhatsApp to mark individual messages and save them as favorites. The messages marked in this way are saved in their own folder and can be easily retrieved without having to search through all chat histories.

1. To mark a message with a star, first open the chat in which it is located.
2. Now place your finger on the corresponding message and hold it down until several options appear.
3. Tap from the displayed options on the star icon to add the selected message so to the starred messages.

WhatsApp: How to find starred messages

To view all the starred WhatsApp messages, it is necessary on an Android device to click on the "three-dot icon" in the upper right corner and select the option "Starred" from the menu. On the other hand, if you are using an iPhone, first tap on "Contact Info" and then on "Starred Messages" so that all the favorite messages are displayed to you. Here you also have the option to remove the star marking of individual messages again by selecting them and tapping on the crossed-out star in the menu.
