Kanban OneNote: What's behind it?

Kanban is a method in agile project management that is intended to ensure greater efficiency through clear task structuring. A Kanban board is often used to clearly visualize work stages. It is also possible to create a Kanban board with Microsoft's OneNote.

Create Kanban with OneNote

Basically, a Kanban board is broken down into columns that simplify the processes.
  1. Open OneNote and create a notebook.
  2. To do this, click on "Show notebooks" and there on "+ notebook".
  3. Now give the notebook a name and click on "Create notebook".
  4. In the notebook, create four columns with the following names: "Ideas", "Tasks", "Processing" and "Completed".

What the columns of a Kanban board created with OneNote mean

The goal of these columns is to get a clear overview of ideas and their processing status. Via OneNote you can also synchronize open tasks with Outlook, among other things.
  1. Ideas: This column is for new ideas that are potentially worth implementing.
  2. Tasks: The tasks column is for ideas that really need to be implemented. Verschieben Sie also die umzusetzende Idee in diese Spalte.
