Amazon Alexa: Change device name - how it works

Digital assistants like Amazon's Alexa or Apple's Homepod have long since found their way into living rooms at home. Alexa supports you in the activities of daily needs and reminds you of various appointments. In doing so, you can pair Alexa with multiple devices and it can become important to change the device name.

How to change the device name of Alexa

To better recognize and address the individual devices, you should change the names beforehand.
  1. Download and install the Alexa app on your smartphone. Once that's done, open the app and tap on the three horizontal bars in the top left corner.
  2. Now, continue to Settings and from there, continue to "Device Settings". Select your Amazon Echo.
  3. Tap on "Edit Name" at the top to change the name of the device.
  4. After you have entered the new name, confirm with "Next".
With Alexa, you can not only schedule your appointments, but also control your home. For example, all the lights in your apartment or house can be controlled with Alexa. Also the control of the heating is no problem for Alexa. So müssen Sie im Winter nicht mehr ständig die Heizung an- und ausdrehen, um eine angenehme Raumtemperatur zu erreichen.
