Apple HomePod or Amazon Alexa: Which device is better?

When it comes to assistance devices, there are three major frontrunners, including Apple's HomePod and Amazon's Alexa. Both devices offer a wealth of features, but Google Home Max is not to be missed. All three assistance systems have voice control that is activated with "Ok, Google," "Alexa" or "Hey Siri."

Which assistance system is better?

It is only possible to a limited extent to make a precise statement about which device is better. Because this sometimes depends on the version of the device and how you use it.

1. There are only minimal differences in the voice output of all three devices. In all of them, sentences are composed of syllables, which sometimes sounds quite choppy. Another problem is the pronunciation of Germanized English words. The HomePod has clear advantages here, but Alexa is only slightly behind. Only the Google version is further behind here.
2. When it comes to understanding voice commands, Apple has a clear advantage, as Siri has no problem with your commands even with loud music. The home assistants from Amazon and Google still lag behind here.
3. If you want to use the device to control your home, there are a few things to consider. With the Amazon Echo, the gateway is built directly into the device, which is why a control of Phillips Hue and IKEA TRADFRI is not possible. Apple is behind here, since it is only possible to control unsupported devices in a roundabout way. Google offers the best result, because with the right gateway everything is compatible.
