Apple HomePod: Connect Bluetooth Device

With the HomePod from Apple, you can address various applications and devices via voice commands. For example, you can connect a lighting system to the smart speaker. However, if you want to connect a device of your choice to the PC via Bluetooth, you will encounter problems with the HomePod.

Is it possible to connect Bluetooth devices to the HomePod?

Apple's HomePod comes with the Siri voice assistant. If you connect your device to the Internet, you can perform orders via voice command in addition to weather queries. With Apple devices, you can usually only connect selected hardware, this is also the case with the HomePod.
  1. You can only send audio files to the HomePod via AirPlay.
  2. The speaker does not support streaming via Bluetooth. However, the HomePod is quite Bluetooth 5.0 capable.
  3. If you therefore want to play music via your smartphone, this is only possible with an AirPlay-enabled device.
  4. If you own a Windows computer and can therefore not play your audio files, then it is possible to connect your computer to the HomePod via iTunes.
  5. However, only certain video and audio formats are supported. Hierzu gehören MOV-, MP4- und M4V-, MP3-, AAC-, WAV- und AIFF-Dateien.
  6. Möchten Sie keine Begrenzung in den akzeptierten Formaten haben, dann benötigen Sie eine Drittanbietersoftware. So können Sie jedes Format an ein AirPlay-fähiges Gerät Ihrer Wahl senden.
