Rename HomePod - how to customize the device name

If you haven't changed the name of the Apple HomePod during setup, the smart speaker will be named "HomePod" by default. But don't worry, you can still customize the device name afterwards via the settings.

How to change the name of your HomePod

If you want to rename your HomePod, it works by using the Apple Home app from your iPhone or iPad. Unless you set a different name when setting up the device, the system will simply call the smart speaker "HomePod" by default. So that you can still tell multiple devices apart, the room where the speaker is located is named in addition to the name.Follow these steps to change the name of your HomePod:
  1. Go to the Apple Home app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. In the overview, tap the HomePod you want to rename.
  3. Open the settings of the device by tapping on "Details" in the bottom right corner.
  4. Tap on the device name (HomePod) and enter a new name using the keyboard that appears.
  5. Confirm your entry by tapping on "Done".
The new name of the HomePod is automatically passed on to all connected devices and apps. In addition to the device name, you can also change the room specification in the HomePod settings. Zusätzlich zu den vorgegebenen Räumen haben Sie außerdem die Möglichkeit, neue Räume mit einem von Ihnen festgelegten Namen zu erstellen.
