AirPods don't work - here's how to remedy the situation

If your AirPods no longer connect, noise while listening to music or don't turn on at all, this can have various causes. Often, however, a rest is enough to get the headphones working again. If there is a defect, however, you have to give the AirPods for replacement or repair.

Resetting AirPods - here's how it works

Before you replace the AirPods, try resetting the headphones to see if that fixes the problem. Follow these steps to reset the headphones:
  1. Put the AirPods into the charging case.
  2. Hold down the set button on the case until the status indicator flashes white and yellow alternately.
  3. To complete the reset, remove the AirPods from the case.
Since the reset deletes all stored connections of the AirPods, you need to reconnect the headphones.

Repair AirPods

If the problems persist even after a reset of the AirPods, the cause may be a defect. You can then either send the headphones in for repair or replacement. Alternatively, you can return the AirPods to an Apple Store. The cost of a replacement or repair will depend on your warranty status or whether you have an AppleCare+ plan. If you replace the AirPods under AppleCare+, you will only have to pay a small portion. A replacement out of warranty and without a protection plan is significantly expensive.
