Google Maps: How to use Plus Codes - all info

Plus Codes are very effective - which makes it all the more surprising that most Maps users don't even know about the feature. Our guide will help change that: Read what it is and how it works.

Always valid on Maps: Plus Codes are composed according to a clear pattern.

Plus Codes have the advantage that they also work where there are no addresses to send. This is usually not the case in Germany, but all the more so in other regions of the world.

Google Maps: Plus codes as an alternative to coordinates

Plus codes can be used to mark a clearly defined point on the map.
  • In this way, the codes are suitable, for example, for appointments, since locations are thereby clearly transmitted. Just like coordinates, therefore, but Plus Codes are simpler in structure as a combination of numbers and letters and therefore more practical.
  • In the Maps app, you can see the Plus Code by tapping on a highlighted blue dot. In the info window that opens, the code is located at "Location".
  • In the browser it works practically the same: If a pin is set, you just have to click on it to see more info. There you will then see the Plus Code.
The reverse is true: If you receive a Plus Code, you only have to enter it in the Maps address window to see the exact location. To this you can then start navigation as usual.
