WhatsApp storage: how much space you have

The WhatsApp storage on your smartphone usually has to accommodate a large volume of data: Photos, videos and voice messages are sent en masse and consume a lot of storage space.

The storage capacity of the WhatsApp memory is inextricably linked to the overall capacity of the smartphone. If you generally have little storage space, your repertoire of videos, photos and voice messages on WhatsApp is also always limited.

Check the memory of WhatsApp

If the available storage space on your phone decreases, you should first check whether WhatsApp is really the source of the problem. When checking the occupied WhatsApp memory, you can immediately delete media such as videos, photos and voice messages that you no longer need.

1. Open your chat overview in WhatsApp and tap on the menu icon.
2. Here, select "Settings" to then open "Data and storage usage".
3. Here you will find the option "Storage usage". Tap this option to see a list of all chats sorted by the size of the data sent there.
4. Now you can tap the conversations with the most used space, then use the "Manage" option to select which files of the chat should be deleted.

Memory card as a helpful accessory

If you now partout can not decide on enough files to delete, you have the option to insert a memory card. Your files can then be stored there and more memory is available again. Alternatively, you can also load your data on a PC or in a cloud to get storage space on the smartphone.
