GeForce NOW: You can expect this data consumption

With GeForce NOW, Nvidia's data centers take over almost the entire computing load. Our guide explains how high the data consumption is when gaming on the cloud platform.

Under load: GeForce NOW's data consumption depends on the settings.

GeForce NOW does not put a small load on the bandwidth when gaming. This results in a relatively high data consumption.

This is how high the data consumption is in GeForce NOW

Official information about the data consumption is not available from Nvidia. However, reliable benchmarks are now known due to the numerous empirical values:
  • The data consumption is between 4 and 10 GB per hour. Other sources report a maximum of about 15 GB per hour.
  • This coincides with the specifications of the competitor Google Stadia: There it is up to 20 GB per hour, but with 4K resolution, which is not available with GeForce NOW. The maximum data consumption is therefore somewhat lower.
The actual data consumption depends on the settings as well as the game. Occasional pauses also directly lower the consumption significantly, since no data flows during this time. Nevertheless, it is also true for GeForce NOW that it is advisable to only use the service with rates without a data cap. In Deutschland ist dies die Regel, in den USA beispielsweise jedoch nicht.
