E-scooters: rules - this is what you need to pay attention to before driving
On June 15, 2019, the regulation for very small electric vehicles came into force. In this, various rules were set that also apply to driving an e-scooter. This describes when you are allowed to drive the scooter and in which situations this is not allowed under any circumstances.
These are the rules you need to follow when riding an e-scooter
With the new laws, many new regulations for e-scooters have come out. It is advisable to comply with them, otherwise fines will follow.- The maximum allowed speed is 20 km/h. Exceeds your scooter this speed and you are stopped by the police, you must expect heavy fines.
- The e-scooters may only be used from 14 years. This is the minimum age, which may not be undercut.
- Also driving on the wrong side of the roadway is not allowed and costs 10 euros.
- Generally, all the regulations that also apply to bicycles apply to e-scooters. These may only be used on the bike lane.
- Also driving under the influence of alcohol is not allowed and can end very expensive. At 0.5 to 1 per mille, the fun costs about 500 euros.
