How to prevent Windows 10 from restarting

When using a Windows 10 computer, there are regular updates that close security holes, fix bugs or improve functionalities. If you have enabled the corresponding option, they will be downloaded and installed automatically. Usually, your computer will restart afterwards. If you want to prevent this reboot, you can disable the option accordingly.

1. Open the editor for local group policies via the search function. To do this, enter "Edit group policies" in the search bar.
2. Now click on "Computer configuration" on the right side and then on "Administrative templates". In the next step, switch to "Windows components". Scroll all the way down and click on "Windows Update".
3. In the list that appears, look for the item "Do not automatically restart for scheduled installations of automatic updates when users are logged in". Klicken Sie doppelt mit der linken Maustaste darauf.
4. Wählen Sie hier den Punkt „Aktiviert“ aus und bestätigen Sie die Auswahl über „Ok“.
