Android 9: Block callers - how to prevent contact

If you receive unwanted calls from a person, Android 9 gives you the option to block the contact. The approach to blocking a particular caller may differ from manufacturer to manufacturer in the menu used.

How to block a caller on Android 9

With the Android 9 operating system comes many new features for your smartphone. However, some features are also carried over from older versions. For example, it is still possible to block annoying callers. This way, you will no longer receive calls or be notified of a call from that person. Note that depending on the manufacturer of your Android smartphone, the menus or options may be named differently. However, the procedure is usually very similar.

1. Open the phone app on your Android device.
2. Then go to the call list.
3. Tap on the caller you want to block in the next step.
4. Hold the entry until a new window appears on the display.
5. Here you will now see several options you have to choose from.
6. Select the entry "Block number".
7. At the next message, confirm again via "Block" that you want to block the caller.
