Android Q: Block callers - how it works

To block certain callers on your Android Q smartphone, you can add their phone number to a block list. This is possible from both the Phone app and the Contacts app on the device.

Android Q: How to add a caller to the block list

The procedure to block callers on your Android Q device depends on whether it is a known number or an anonymous call. To block a caller with a known number, please first open your smartphone's phone app.

1. Tap on the call you want to block, then press and hold the number until a small window appears.
2. Select "Block number" in it and confirm your selection by tapping "Block".
3. If the caller you want to block is found in your contact list, you can also block it from the Contacts app.
4. To do this, please open the three-dot menu in the Contacts app and select the "Settings" option.
5. Then navigate to "Blocked numbers" > "Add number" and enter the number you want to block before tapping "Block".

If you receive calls with unknown numbers more often, it is possible on some Android Q smartphones to block them as well. To do this, go to "Settings" > "Call settings" > "Reject call" in the phone app and set a check mark at the entry "Unknown" at "List for automatic rejection".
